Who is Gugu Khathi?

Who Am I? I Am a Girl With a Mind, a Woman With Confidence & a Lady With Class. Born in Soweto raised in Mogale City a serial entrepreneur, Forbes8 Ambassador, TEDX speaker a Womenomics Activist.

What does National Women’s Day means to you ?
The holiday commemorates the national march of women on this day in 1956 to petition against legislation that required African persons to carry the pass so it’s a day that serves as a reminder to me of women rising and uniting for a course that would benefit all of us as a nation to date- because they marched today I do not have to carry a ID or passport, I’m am free today because they marched for my freedom.

What progress have you seen on women, peace, and security?
Women are more vocal in all platforms the are slowly taking up space and making their voices heard, they have found themselves and they understand their  role in the community of making money and empowering themselves through securing the bag, peace comes when there is no lack.

What does gender equality and women’s empowerment means to you ?
Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world. There has been progress over the last decades: More girls are going to school, fewer girls are forced into early marriage, more women are serving in parliament and in positions of leadership, and laws are being reformed to advance gender equality. Empowering women is women being included in the room were transformation conversations take place not left outside according to me.

Do you think we need more women in leadership and if yes why ?
Yes we need more women , history has proven that we are peacemakers, we are the givers we multiply the little we have stretch it down to many households we are the nature’s we care more and we continuously reach out more meaning if we occupy more leadership positions then the communities will improve and poverty can be elevated.

How does one create a supportive environment at home?
I apply the following :-  Cultivate Compassion, Create a Fear-Free Home, Show and teach Trust, Practice Transparency, Celebrate little and big Success, Prioritize Work-Life Balance.

Gender based violence in South Africa among women its increases , as a woman how can we deal with Gender Based violence ? Also what can be implemented to fight against GBV?
TAKE A STAND AGAINST REGRESSIVE FORCES, REACH OUT TO MARGINALISED AND RURAL GIRLS, CHALLENGE RAPE and violence CULTURE, SHARE VITAL INFORMATION WITH THE COMMUNITY, EMBOLDEN women/ GIRLS TO SPEAK OUT, ENGAGE BOYS AND YOUNG MEN TO BECOME AGENTS OF CHANGE, TRANSFORM ATTITUDES TOWARDS HARMFUL PRACTICES AT MULTIPLE LEVELS.

In Zimbabwe they are suffering through due to violation of Human Rights what can be done in South Africa to avoid human rights conflicts in the near future ?
The violations are perpetrated by government supporters as well as law enforcement agencies, and include assaults, torture, death threats, kidnappings and unlawful arrests and detentions. Where leadership fails then the country falls apart Zimbabwe needs leadership that understands and respects the rights of its citizens. South Africa needs to restore the Family unit in leadership where our leaders can preach and represent the family - divorces and broken homes will continue if our leaders do not emphasize the rebuilding and the strength and rwuiping of the man as the head if the household.
