With a new album on the way, Travis Scott is giving fans an idea of what they can expect. During his cover story for the September issue of CR Men, the emcee talked about Utopia and how the title perfectly aligns with the content he will discuss on the upcoming project.
“Medicine, nursing, being a better person, talking, language, communication—you know, a utopian state. That’s what my album is about. You think utopia is a society where everything is good: health, buildings, architecture—nah. It’s just about proper lines of communication. Because that’s the dystopian shit we’re in right now. It’s all hate, hate, hate, and all of that is drawn from what?” Scott said.
Scott’s breakdown of Utopia comes fresh off of his win at the 2021 MTV VMAs. At the annual award show, the “Astroworld” rapper took home the award for Best Hip Hop for his “Franchise” single featuring M.I.A. and Young Thug. Amid his acceptance speech, he offered advice on how the world can achieve a utopian society.
“Love is the biggest thing that we can ever hold, spread love and everything will be okay,” he concluded.
Scott’s upcoming project is expected to come out before the end of the year, but no official release date has been announced.
