Major League DJz allegedly owe SARS close to R9 million in taxes

 Major League DJz (Twin brothers Banele and Bandile Mbere), allegedly owe the South African Revenue Service (SARS) close to R9 million in taxes and other outstanding amounts. Sunday World reported that SARS obtained default judgments against the Major League DJz at the Johannesburg High Court this week as the first move towards attaching their assets to recover the money to offset their unpaid taxes.


According to Sunday World, here is a breakdown of the unpaid taxes that equate to almost R9 million. 

Over R2.2 million in value-added tax 
R1.3 million in unpaid company income tax 
R1.3 million in additional tax  
Over R900,000 in interest on the aforementioned amounts
Over R800,000 in additional tax
R740,000 in unpaid pay as you earn tax 
R680,000 skills development levy
R373,000 for the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) 
R290,000 in additional tax 
R58,000 in penalties  
The publication also claims that R1.1 million was added in addition to an amount of R96 000. The details surrounding these two amounts were unclear.
