If you’re a young aspiring DJ looking for an opportunity to make it in the music scene, then Diesel Denim Friday is for you. The brand is back again with their Diesel Denim Friday (DDF), The Sound of Denim, the popular clothing brand is in search of the next young DJ talent to uplift and empower.
Last year, the music competition was won by talented 19-year-old DJ Judy Jay from a village in Limpopo, called Sekhukhune, and this year, it could be your turn to take to the title. Judy Jay will join DJ Shimza as a “Super Hero” DJ to help mentor the rising DJs through the competition while also being supported by “Hero DJs” such as Oscar Mbo, Le Soul, Malankane as well as Mshayi and Mr Thela of which will all be representing their respective cities.
The Hero DJs will be responsible for selecting three rising DJs from their regions as a way to showcase their city’s talents. From that point on, the public will stream the different sets and vote for their favourite artists right before the Hero DJs come in to select their finalists from each city. Once chosen, the finalists will proceed in competing for that winning position that comes complete with a grand cash prize of R50 000 as well as mentorship.
HOW TO ENTER AND STREAM
- We are calling emerging DJ’s to enter via our website (www.dieseldenimfriday.co.za). DJ talent can enter their details and upload a link to their mix. This could be via Spotify, Sound Cloud or Youtube.
- The HERO DJ’s will then sift through all entries and choose 5 finalists each from their city (CPT, JHB, DBN, PTA) to come up with the top 20.
- The various finalists will stream live from a Diesel store in their city every Friday as the voting process continues, the mixes will also be uploaded on the Diesel website as well as streamed weekly on the @dieselsa social media pages to allow the public to vote.
